Overcast is a metalcore from Boston, Massachusetts, who some credit as being one of the pioneers in the metalcore scene. Formed in 1991 by singer Brian Fair, guitarists Pete Cortese and Shawn Rounds, bassist Mike D'Antonio and drummer Jay Fitzgerald.
Overcast released its debut 7", 'Bleed Into One', in 1992 on Exchange Records, followed by the full-length 'Expectational Dilution' in 1994. Guitarist Shawn Rounds left the band and was replaced by Scott McCooe. Three more 7" releases arrived in 1995 and 1996, culminating in the 'Fight Ambition To Kill' full-length in 1997. In 1998, after a less than successful tour, the band quietly disbanded, splintering off to become cogs in numerous different bands, including Shadows Fall (Fair), Killswitch Engage (D'Antonio), Seemless (Cortese), Transient (McCooe) and Tunnel Drill (Fitzgerald).
In the spring of 2006, the band reunited and entered the studio with Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage), to re-record some classic tracks with two previously unreleased tracks. This album was entitled 'Reborn To Kill Again' and was released in August of 2008 on Metal Blade Records.
